Interview VISA Hungría - Stipendium Hungaricum
Have you got THAT email, you know what I am talking about right? The notification of your scholarship award. Well...GET EXITED! You are super close to acomplish your dream to study your carrer abroad.
Are you nervous about the interview? Let me help you with that...
Make an appointment.- If you have already received notification that you have been awarded the Stipendium Hungáricum scholarship, you will be contacted by the competent authority in your country, which has an agreement with this scholarship, and you will be able to make an appointment at the embassy, in my case in Ecuador, it is called Senescyt.
It sounds quite intimidating to have an interview with the Hungarian Consul in your country, well let me tell you YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. Normally, the Consul who represents Hungary in your country speaks your language, in my case the interview was in Spanish, the Consul spoke it very well. In fact, I can clearly say that more than an interview, it is a verification of documents. If you bring the documents that I am about to tell you and give them to the Consul, you won´t have any problem and will get the VISA.
The requirements to apply for a visa at the Hungarian Consulate are:
- Admission letter or acceptance letter issued by the Hungarian university
- Award letter issued by the Fundación Pública Tempus
- Valid passport (it is recommended that it be valid for the entire stay in Hungary)
- The two forms duly filled out and signed (migration papers). I leave here the link to download the forms that I filled out in case someone finds it useful, you can send me an access request)

- A passport size photo with a white background
- Letter from the bedroom as the address where you will stay. Even if you decide to live outside of the dorms, the address will serve you well for the VISA interview.
- Medical insurance for the first two weeks of your stay in Hungary
- Simple copy of the birth certificate (without apostille, without legalization, without translation)
Just go on time to your appointment, wait your turn, speak clearly and confidently explaining your name and that you were awarded the scholarship, hand in the documents you brought to the Consul, take your fingerprints in the machine and that's it. One step closer to your journey.
The visa in my case took about 15 days to be ready (this varies from country to country). In order to pick up your VISA you must have the flight ticket already purchased.
By the way, the VISA process has no cost for you who have the scholarship, I traveled with my husband, he paid about 73 dollars for the process and had to submit additional documents. (Leave me a comment if you want me to write a detail as it was possible to travel with my husband)
